ok to cut the chase, a brief intro of my purpose here. around september, i signed up for an AIESEC community development internship. it is a collaboration between NTU and National Tsing Hua Uni in Hsin Chu and the project assigned to me is on Hakka Culture. the nature of the project revolves around publicizing the Hakka Association and the events held in this association.
i hope to make this blog more of a pictorial one than a wordy reflection of my experiences. so stay tuned for the pictures of the amazing sceneries, events and sites that will be popping up in these 5 weeks!
This is the surrounding which i m in right now. it has been raining for the past 2 days and hence, explaining the presence of the mist.
This is my location on Google Map. just in case you wanna know, its 峨眉街,峨眉乡,新竹县.
it is my first time staying in a Kampong and in this Kampong, food stalls close very early. by that i mean 2pm!! :S the pace here is very low and relaxed and it was the reason why i wanted to take on this project. but frankly, as a city kid, this slow pace and desolation is really something which i am still trying to get used to. LOL. its kinda like i'm asking for it =.= on a side note, the villagers and my colleagues here are really friend and warm! they offered to teach me how to ride a bike so that i can zoom around this area and explore it. currently, the only accessible mode of transport here is my pair of legs, lol and hence, i am "trapped" at the association most of the time. actually, i'm planning to do a long run with my camera once the weather becomes better. the air here is superbly fresh and traffic is low. so i can have the whole stretch of tarred road to myself during a run. moreover, it will be good training for the Sundown Full Marathon coming May next year!
everything in Taiwan has been pretty good so far. i've met amazing friends from National Tsing Hua University and had lots of fun eating, interacting and (playing monopoly) with them! of course, not forgetting my two Majulah Singapura comrades Xinning and Constance! in fact i kinda miss them now that i'm all alone by myself! :S hope my boss can approve my offs so that i can meet up with them! i've not raised this off thingy to my boss yet cause i would think that its not polite asking for off just on the 2nd day here. haha. My boss has been very nice to me so far. his assignment for me is to "experience the nature and most important, have fun and relax". haha. that was seriously what he said to me!
ok time to snap more shots. will be back here shortly! 就这样!
